Synopsis

With Christmas around the corner, a pious Catholic engineer explores the intersection of chance and choice in life. After spotting the delicate Françoise at Mass, he vows to marry her. This decision changes when he spends the night with a divorcée on a snowy Christmas Eve.In this third entry to the Six Moral Tales series, this is one of Rohmer’s most celebrated and intellectually rich works. My Night at Maud’s is Rohmer at his most philosophical, where rigid worldviews and the ideas of choice and free will are challenged.
