Gie

This film is set in the 1960s and is based on the life story of Soe Hok Gie, a critical activisit and writer in those times. From his youth, Gie avidly believed in freedom and in fighting for his beliefs. He also found an affinity for nature. In the midst of political wrangling amongst student groups in his college, Gie becomes embroiled in the growing political crisis and begins his career of writing. But when a new regime arises whose ideas are in conflict with his, Gie sticks by his principles at the risk of losing everything, even his life.
