Dear patrons of AFA:

We understand the disappointment of many at not being able to secure tickets for the Retrospective: Wong Kar Wai programme running from 5 March – 4 April 2021. We sincerely apologise for this.
We would like to address a few issues raised by members of the public:

1) Technical issues due to high demand

After the website crashed on the first day the tickets were released (17 February 2021) due to the high demand, we worked with our technical team to fix and upgrade the server to handle the surge in traffic. Even with this significant increase in server capacity, the server could not keep up with the demand when the sale of tickets restarted this morning (24 February 2021). As such, we stopped the sale of tickets to ensure patrons did not encounter difficulties during purchasing and check-outs.

2) Ticketing on Peatix

In order to make the tickets readily available to patrons, we moved ticket sales to Peatix (http://bit.ly/AFAticketing). We apologise for not announcing the shift before tickets were made available.

3) Additional tickets and screenings

Currently, Oldham Theatre is operating at a reduced capacity limit of 65 seats due to the COVID-19 safe management measures. To manage the number of tickets sold, we only released a percentage of the tickets on Peatix (http://bit.ly/AFAticketing). Following overwhelming demand, we will be releasing the remaining tickets on 26 February (Friday) at 7.00pm.
We are also pleased to inform that we have managed to secure 10 additional screenings. The extra screenings will be sold on Peatix (http://bit.ly/AFAticketing) from Friday, 26 February 7.00pm.

We will learn from this experience and will be taking steps to improve our ticketing system and communication with you. We appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding. Thank you for your support of this programme.
