Synopsis
“It’s always about love. It’s boring,” says a character in this whimsical romance. Contrary to this, the film observes Rimbaud’s axiom that “love has to be reinvented.” Set in a school for people with sensory disabilities, the film presents infinite variations on the theme of love through a set of lovestruck characters as they orbit around each other in a series of encounters and departures. Of the film’s various threads, perhaps its most beguiling is the waltz between deaf rocker Edo and blind Fitri (Indonesian superstars Nicholas Saputra and Ayushita). While sumptuously capturing in inspired ways the evental character of sensuous attraction, with this pair’s trajectory, the film further discloses love under its bittersweet, though transcendent illusory aspect, as Edo mischievously poses as a ghost doctor to seduce Fitri.
