Waikiki Brothers is a traveling cover band that has seen better days. For their latest nightclub gig, the struggling musicians head to bandleader Seong-woo’s hometown of Suanbo. Seong-woo reunites with his old friends and high school crush, all of whom harbour unfulfilled dreams of becoming music artists. These encounters, both nostalgic and painful, force Seong-woo to revisit and reckon with his life choices.

A tender exploration of youthful dreams and their pursuit against adversity, the film is the sophomore feature of Director Yim soon-rye, one of the few leading female auteurs of New Korean cinema. Waikiki Brothers garnered critical acclaim, opening the 2nd Jeonju International Film Festival and inspired a stage musical adaptation.
