About the Programme
Transfiguration International Film Festival is a collection of contemporary experimental animation. It focuses on challenging, unmarketable, cheap, humorous, independent filmmaking that lives just out of line of sight. It believes in the filmmaker as an individual with a singular aesthetic vision, and focuses on the untempered, raw voices of people separate from the long arm of industry and money.
Transfiguration International Film Festival is the only film festival where we will tell you the truth. It is freshly born and slippery. It cries and beats its wings. It whimpers and rolls around. It’s alive and coming fast.
Co-presented with the Asian Film Archive (AFA), this edition of the festival will run from 8-9 November 2025 at Oldham Theatre. The screening of the feature length film Take Off the Blindfold, Adjust Your Eyes, Look In The Mirror, See The Face Of Your Mother (2025) on Saturday, 8 November will be accompanied by a Q&A panel discussion.

About the curators
EXYL
Exyl is an animator and filmmaker currently living in Singapore. They love cheap work. They spend their time programming unmarketable films and thinking about what to do about it all.
They’ve made 3 films they can stomach watching, about 5-10 they can watch through squinted eyes, and 2 films they refuse to show. Their films have screened at Slamdance, SGIFF, Singapore Shorts, Encounters, Fantoche, London Short FF and more. They were awarded the SGIFF SEA Short Film Grant and Momo Film Distribution grant in 2025. They have attended residencies with Ox-Bow, I-Park, Dirt Palace, and the Film Studies Center Harvard.
Jonni Pepper-Golions
Jonni Pepper-GoLions is a nonbinary filmmaker, currently based in Chicago. Over the course of her career, she has created 6+ hours of hand drawn animation work, including multiple animated features. She is supported mainly by Patreon and freelance work, and has worked for Sony Pictures Animation, Buzzfeed, FOX, Warner Bros Discovery, among others.
Jonni’s work includes Wasteland, a 80 min anthology feature film, made up of 5 films she made during her time in school, concluding with the acclaimed hand-drawn film The Final Exit of the Disciples of Ascensia. In 2025, she graduated with an MFA in Film/Video/New Media/Animation from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, where she completed a new animated feature Take Off The Blindfold, Adjust Your Eyes, Look In The Mirror, See The Face Of Your Mother. Currently, she’s the lead animation programmer at Slamdance Film Festival.
