Full Synopsis

Singapore’s top Interpol agent, Cleopatra Wong, teams up with her Filipino counterpart to bust counterfeit currency operation that threatens several Asian countries with bankruptcy. Their dangerous quest takes them from Singapore to Hong Kong and finally Manila where they locate the counterfeit ring’s headquarters.

Restoration Notes

The restoration of They Call Her…Cleopatra Wong was made possible using a 35mm German-dubbed release print from the collection of Filmarchiv Austria, and a 16mm release print with burned-in Danish subtitles from the Danish Film Institute.

About the Director

Bobby A. Suarez (1942-2010) was a Filipino producer, director and screenwriter known for films that brought together elements of the Western spy and Asian martial arts film genres, such as The One-Armed ExecutionerSearchers Of The Voodoo MountainAmerican Commandos. The most famous of his works is the Cleopatra Wong character series that comprised of three films – They Call Her Cleopatra Wong (1978), Dynamite Johnson (a.k.a. Bionic Boy II) (1979), and Devil’s Angels (a.k.a. Devil’s Three) (1980). Suarez established Intercontinental Film Distributors (HK) Ltd that pioneered the worldwide marketing of English dubbed Chinese movies and English dubbed Italian, French and Spanish movies for the Asian market. Suarez’s works were distributed in many territories, including the US, the Middle East, and Europe.
