Full Synopsis

19-year-old Ping yearns to work in Japan at a car parts company. Under the guardianship of her aunt, she works in a restaurant and a pig farm to earn enough money to live her dream, even stealing from her employers for a little extra cash. She becomes involved in a business where immigrant workers are paid to impregnate women, who in return get money for giving birth. Upon discovering her aunt hid knowledge of this business from her, Ping is forced to make a difficult decision.

The Tiger Factory is the third feature film in Malaysian history to screen at the Cannes Film Festival. It won the Special Mention at the Tokyo International Film Festival in 2010.
