A father lives with his unwed daughter and mentally challenged son in the remote mountains. Feeling that his life was nearing its end, the father feared that terrible punishments would befall him in the afterlife if the family line was not continued. He becomes obsessed and takes extreme measures to find a woman that would bear a male child with his son and maintain the familial ancestral lineage.
The Inseminator is Bùi Kim Quy’s debut feature. It was screened at the 2014 Busan International Film Festival and the International Film Festival Rotterdam in 2015.
