Synopsis

The Happy Trio delves into the lives of three downtrodden but resilient individuals navigating the complexities of the bustling city. Ah Jiao (Li Ching), a young woman hailing from a rural village, finds herself stranded in the urban sprawl. Da Sha (Ye Feng), a compassionate transient, makes his home in a run-down snack shop, and Erh Shu Kung ( Wang Sha), a retired entertainer, completes the family of humble yet content souls.

The trio faces disruption when a slick businessman catapults Ah Jiao to stardom and financial success as a singer, while her two streetwise companions struggle to make ends meet. However, Ah Jiao quickly realises that money cannot buy happiness. John Lo Mar’s gritty social dramedy sheds light on the harsh realities of life, offering a glimpse of raw realism in Hong Kong cinema.
