Styled & Sutured: Fashion on Screen features films that explore the connections, obsessions and tensions between ourselves and the identities we perform through fashion and styling. In these tales following fashion designers, everyday dreamers, otherworldly figures, and stunted shopaholics, the transformative power of apparel is a playful, double-edged sword. After all, what we choose to wear is a borrowed skin, sutured into our own. It may reveal our truer self, yet it may also prescribe a foreign one. What can be armor can easily become a straitjacket, or vice versa.

With 17 film screenings and events, including five 4K restorations and six premieres of Asian and international titles, an accompanying installation and pop-up market creatively directed by Magazine For Young Girls (MFYG), and a special night of poetry and film co-presented with Ethos Books, delve into an array of luxuriously woven fantasies, period extravaganzas and vogue nightmares.

Screenings of Styled & Sutured: Fashion on Screen will run from 18 January to 23 February 2025 at Oldham Theatre. The installation titled OBSESSIONS created by Magazine For Young Girls (MFYG) for the programme will be available to view at Oldham Theatre from 18 January to 23 February 2025.

Do note that Oldham Theatre operates on a free seating arrangement. Doors will open 20 minutes before showtime so arrive early to choose a seat and avoid disrupting the screenings as AFA does not play ads and screenings will start promptly.
