Synopsis

Lynn, a 20-year old flight attendant in-training, finds herself with an unplanned pregnancy. Returning to her hometown, her troubles are compounded as her parents are mired in a scandal at a clinic they run. As unfavourable compromises are made, the walls close in even further with the COVID pandemic.

Beijing-based husband-and-wife duo, Ryuji Otsuka and Huang Ji’s film Stonewalling is the third in a cinematic trilogy that adopts a contemplative gaze on the lives of China’s “left-behind-children”— those whose parents are forced to leave their families to find jobs in cities.
