Synopsis

Set in 1980s Sydney, 18-year-old Jackie Mullens, a vivacious and rebellious teenager who works at her working-class family’s struggling pub, dreams of pop stardom. With the help of her enterprising cousin Angus, who appoints himself her manager, Jackie dives headfirst into the music scene, determined to make her mark. 

Fuelled by DIY glamour, punk spirit, and infectious New Wave energy, Jackie crafts a bold, eccentric persona that quickly catches the attention of TV producers and music executives. But as her fame begins to rise, so too does the tension between her soaring ambitions and the people and places she has left behind. 

Featuring eye-popping production design by Brian Thomson (The Rocky Horror Picture Show) and a hit-filled soundtrack, Starstruck is a vibrant musical comedy — a cult classic restored by the National Film and Sound Archive in 2015.

Do note that Oldham Theatre operates on a free seating arrangement. Doors will open 20 minutes before showtime so arrive early to choose a seat and avoid disrupting the screenings as AFA does not play ads and screenings will start promptly.

All patrons are encouraged to purchase your tickets online. If you choose to purchase tickets or merchandise at Oldham Theatre’s box office, cashless payment is preferred.
