Full Synopsis
Rehana, a single mother and medical college educator, witnesses a possible case of sexual assault between a senior colleague and a student. Unable to ignore the incident, she goes on a quest to expose the perpetrator, while managing complaints about her young daughter’s troubling behaviour at school. Set against entrenched systems of power and patriarchy, Rehana pursues a relentless fight for justice for her student and her child—at all costs.
Premiering at Cannes Film Festival 2021, Abdullah Mohammad Saad’s second film, Rehana Maryam Noor made history by being the first Bangladeshi film to be featured in the festival’s Un Certain Regard section and was subsequently selected as the Bangladeshi entry for the Best International Feature Film at the 94th Academy Awards.
