What is film restoration? What is the process behind it? Why and how was Mee Pok Man restored? These questions and more will be answered by experts who worked closely to bring this celluloid masterpiece to the digital realm.

Speakers
Karen Chan
Karen Chan is the Executive Director of the Asian Film Archive (AFA). A staff of the AFA since 2006, Karen manages the AFA’s growth, preservation and curation of collection and programmes. She is currently on the Executive Council of the South East Asia-Pacific Audiovisual Archive Association. Her prior work experiences include teaching English and History, working with the National Archives of Singapore and the Natural History Museum in New York City.

Chai Yee Wei
Yee-wei is a Singaporean filmmaker who has written/co-written and directed 4 feature length films – Blood Ties《還魂》, Twisted《撞鬼》That Girl In Pinafore《我的朋友,我的同學,我愛過的一切》and The Voice of China – I Want You 《中国好声音之为你转身》. He also founded Mocha Chai Laboratories, Singapore’s first boutique digital film lab specialising in DCP (Digital Cinema Package) and opened Singapore’s first Dolby ATMOS Dubbing theatre. In 2015, Mocha Chai partnered with the Asian Film Archive to restore Eric Khoo’s Mee Pok Man.
