RECIPROCAL is the Asian Film Archive (AFA)’s annual collaborative film programme that spotlights the archival collections of AFA and a partnering archive. Inspired by and responding to the resonance of each other’s featured collections, the curated line-up explores the creative intersections and juxtapositions between the preserved national, regional, and international film and moving image, offering perspectives on archival issues and concerns confronting contemporary archivists.

In the 2024 edition of RECIPROCAL, the Asian Film Archive (AFA) and the Korean Film Archive (KOFA) delve into the theme of voyages through cinematic storytelling. Six selected films from each archive’s extensive collection embark on different kinds of journeys from the tangible trails of physical expeditions, the intricate paths of cultural exploration, and profound personal discovery.

Reciprocal 2024 will run from 5 – 21 July 2024 at Oldham Theatre. There will be an online talk with AFA’s Senior Archivist Tee Pao and KOFA programmer Young Jin Eric Choi about the programme on Thursday, 11 July, 7pm (SGT).
