Set in the remote Southwest corner of Taiwan, nature and the economy threaten to slowly erode a small oyster-fishing village as the land keeps subsiding. Nevertheless, preparations for the King Boat Festival are proceeding. Sheng, a man in his 30s returns to the hometown he left many years ago, disguised as an established urban elite. As the festival escalates, Sheng confronts his persistent father Ming who has farmed oysters his entire life. Meanwhile, his childhood friend Kun envies Sheng’s “financial success” and also plans to make a fortune. As the tide recedes, the secrets of everyone in the village are revealed. Ohong Village is a story of returns, reunions and reconnection, portraying people trapped between the stagnated urban world and their estranged rural family.
