Synopsis

Unfolding like a whispered dream, Nostalghia is a lyrical meditation on the ache of remembrance. In the sun-drenched landscapes of Italy, Andrei Gorchakov, a Russian poet, wanders through the ruins of his past, grappling with an unquenchable longing for home. Each frame is a canvas painted with the hues of memory, where the beauty of the present dances with the shadows of what once was.

As he journeys with a mysterious guide, their path intertwines with echoes of lost culture, revealing the fragile threads of identity. Tarkovsky’s long, contemplative takes invite the viewer to linger in moments of stillness, where time collapses and the soul’s yearning is laid bare. The film becomes a haunting elegy, a quest for meaning in a world that feels both familiar and foreign.
