Synopsis
A humble saree salesman and poet, soft-spoken Nasir tries to make ends meet for his family as he hopes for a better tomorrow. Belonging to a minority community in an increasingly conservative town, he is surrounded by everyday intolerances that slowly simmer to a boil, as he goes about his day.
A self-taught filmmaker since the age of seventeen, Arun Karthick was heralded as a new voice in Tamil cinema after his intriguing 2015 debut feature, The Strange Case of Shiva. Nasir, his second film, is partly based on his personal experiences as a witness of the 2016 communal riots that took place in his hometown, Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu, India.
