Synopsis

Gi-joon finds his life as an office worker in Seoul suffocating. He decides to take a trip to his rural hometown of Mujin where memories of his troubled past resurface. A fateful meeting with In-sook, a schoolteacher who yearns to break free from her mundane life, stirs up complicated feelings in him.

Directed by the late Kim Soo-yong (1929 – 2023), Mist is referenced as a modernist classic from the golden age of Korean cinema featuring atmospheric cinematography steeped in melancholy and standout performances from its two leading actors. The work is also notably one of Director Park Chan-wook’s favourite films that inspired his 2022 film Decision to Leave.
