Synopsis

Based on Junichi Watanabe’s novel, Lost Paradise intricately explores forbidden love between a neglected wife, Rinko, and journalist Shoichiro. Their affair, a world-altering force, renews their spirits but unveils emotional and erotic consequences. Amid societal norms, the film navigates the complexities of their relationship, offering a profound take on enduring love and moral dilemmas. Hitomi Kuroki and Kōji Yakusho (Perfect Days) lead the talented cast in this poignant tale of love’s boundaries and its transformative power. The film was the second highest-grossing Japanese film of 1997 after Princess Mononoke.
