Original Title: Het is een schone dag geweest
Director: Jos de Putter
Runtime: 72 mins
Country: Netherlands
Language: Dutch with English subtitles
Rating: PG

Synopsis

Filmmaker Jos de Putter paints a loving portrait of his elderly parents and their final year on the traditional farm they built in Zeeland, a Dutch province with the smallest population in the country. The farm has been passed on from one generation to the next for more than a century, but the couple is retiring without a successor. Documenting their harvests and conversations, the documentary presents the disappearance of a traditional Dutch lifestyle.

It’s Been a Lovely Day was included in the Canon of Dutch Film when it was presented at the Netherlands Film Festival in 2007.
