About the Talk
Held in conjunction with Retrospective: Mike De Leon, join us for this exciting and rare opportunity to hear from industry veteran Josh Siegel, Curator at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA)’s Department of Film. With close to 30 years of experience and more than 150 media and gallery exhibitions under his belt, Josh will share his insights on a broad range of topics that would be of interest to curators, filmmakers, and cinephiles alike. These include—trends in contemporary filmmaking and the film festival circuit; role of classic cinema and the importance of film archives; what level of research and preparation goes behind a landmark retrospective on Filipino auteur Mike De Leon—first shown at MoMA in 2022, and now being presented by the Asian Film Archive.
The discussion and Q&A session will be moderated by Natalie Khoo, Programmes and Outreach Executive, Asian Film Archive. Light refreshments will be provided.
This free event is organised by the Asian Film Archive as part of Retrospective: Mike De Leon, and supported by the U.S Embassy in Singapore. Screenings run until 28 April 2023 at Oldham Theatre. Get tickets.
