Synopsis

Past and present converge as four young actors travel to Kanchanaburi. While they banter about ambitions and the future in a sinking raft house, the town’s traumatic past of the ‘Death Railway’ of World War II looms below. Meanwhile, away in a lush forest, an unknown woman wanders alone in a perpetual search. The actors’ words and gestures are gradually re-enacted and rewritten, revealing them to be scripted portions of a stage play, unfolding into a treatise of love, youth and time. As the tide turns and night falls, each of them comes to a physical and spiritual metamorphosis.

Synopsis

On the set of Come Here, the role of ‘lemongrass girl’ falls on production manager Piano, to deter rain by planting inverted stalks of lemongrass in an open field. Adhering to superstition, the crew members flippantly insist that the planter must be a female virgin, leaving Piano no choice when her colleague discreetly announces that she is no longer up to the task. With a docufiction frame, Lemongrass Girl peeks behind the curtain of Anocha Suwichakornpong’s feature while gathering unspoken instances of social taboo, sexism and microaggressions that arise on film sets.
