The short film All Movements Should Kill the Wind (2019) will precede the screening of Nothing to be Afraid Of (2019)

Nothing to be Afraid Of (2019)
Directed by: Silva Khnkanosian
Runtime: 72 min
Country: Armenia
Language: Armenian with English subtitles
Rating: PG

Ever since the war in Nagorno-Karabakh, the still disputed territory is contaminated by landmines. Nothing to be Afraid Of is a documentary by director Silva Khnkanosian that follows five female mine clearers on their risky job. Instead of focusing on the ever-present threat around them, the film showcases a delicate portrait of humanity, allowing an insight into the women’s lives, routines and friendship with each other. The title hints at the playful humour that surfaces between the women as they prepare dinner, having survived another working day through the solidarity of working together to ward off fear.

All Movements Should Kill the Wind (2019)
Original title: 所有动作都应杀死风
Directed by: Wang Yuyuan
Runtime: 13 min
Country: France, China
Language: No dialogue
Rating: TBA

Man shapes his environment, which shapes his brain. Two hundred kilometres from Beijing, men live in a stone quarry amidst rocks that are waiting to be hacked, cut and sanded into sculptures. The same gestures come back again and again, to write a history of deterioration and repair. In a setting that looks like a post-apocalyptic dystopia, this story fades into the manufacture of monuments, with the wind that inexorably disseminates the traces of these actions.
