Full Synopsis

Cleaners is an absurd coming-of-age anthology film about high school students who  struggle with the standards and pressures of being pure, proper and clean while  discovering that the world they are  in is dirty and superficial to begin with. A nostalgic trip to  days of youthful self-discovery and social awakening.

The film’s distinct visual style, resembling highlighted photocopied paper (much like the reading materials in Phillipine schools), was achieved by exporting the finalised cut of the film at a low frame rate, printing out each frame onto paper and hand-colouring 30,000 sheets before scanning and reassembling them again digitally.
