Synopsis

Fired without warning in the middle of Cannes, film sales assistant Man-hee decides to spend the rest of her time in France on the beach. She is befriended by Claire, a French hobby photographer, bringing them both new realisations on life. Set and made during the actual 2016 Cannes Film Festival, Claire’s Camera flirts with the brief nature of film festivals as a playground for serendipitous encounters, social awkwardness, alcoholism and impulsiveness.

An idyllic, sunny fable on the need to slow down and reflect, this film marked the second collaboration between auteur Hong Sang-soo and French actress Isabelle Huppert, which was followed up by A Traveller’s Needs (2024).
