Full Synopsis
Toom, an ordinary office lady gets retrenched during the Tom Yum Kung financial crisis in 1997. As days pass, she grows despondent and contemplates suicide. One day, a box filled with one-million-baht cash appears at her door and Toom decides to keep the cash, determined to create a better life for herself. Mayhem soon follows, and dead bodies begin piling up at her apartment, as she becomes embroiled in the gangster chase and crime.
6ixtynin9 is the second feature film by Thai writer-director Pen-Ek Ratanaruang, one of Thai cinema’s leading new wave auteurs. The film won the Don Quixote Award – Special Mention at the 50th Berlin International Film Festival and the FIPRESCI Prize at the 24th Hong Kong International Fim Festival in 2000.
