Ah Ma is a quiet introspective film on the value of life. The extended family take time away from their busy lives to see their mother, and for the children their grandmother, one last time as she lies on her deathbed. Everyone waits for the inevitable and copes with their emotions in various ways, like venting their frustrations on others, berating themselves, public mourning as well as private grieving. Caught up with their own feelings, the grandmother passes away in the middle of the night with only a young grandson by her side.
